Experience the opposite, from the similar
When people hear opposing viewpoints, it sometimes backfires to strengthen people’s original convictions to protect their beliefs. Through my design process, I learned that the most effective method for people to open up their biased point of view is when the opposing viewpoint is coming from someone similar to them. IV is a new interface to prevent polarization caused by personalized recommendations. This is done by suggesting content of an opposing viewpoint from someone similar to you.
